Lazo Bios

Juno 2000 Award Winner Lazarus J Finn (LAZO) was born in Castle Bruce on the beauitiful island of Dominica in the Caribbean. He began his career at 15 years of age with a band called "Black Blood" (their very first album charted number 2 in Dominica and received extensive airplay in the Caribbean ). Lazo has since toured extensivly in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean sharing the stage with artists such as Maxi Priest, Burning Spear, Third World and the Wailers to name a few. Soon after immigrating to Ottawa, Canada, Lazo formed his own band "Unity" to start performing his original compositions.

Relocating to Toronto he created the "Lazo Band" releasing the well received EP "Satisfaction Guarenteed" for which he was awarded Top Reggae Performer of the Year in 1993 at the internationally recognized Canadian Reggae Music Awards . Lazo subsequently produced two solo CD's "Something Real" ( nominated for a Juno Award in 1995) and Impetus (which recieved the honour of being the first independant album to chart on Vancouver's Z95.3 TOP 30) for the Washington D.C. based RAS records becoming the first Canadian artist to be signed by the label.

Lazo's first music video "Crucial" produced by RAS records in 1995, reached number 3 on the charts in Guyana,South America and recieved extensive play on CSN ( Caribbean Satalite Network) as well as rotating on America's BET ( Black Entertainment Television).

In 1998 Lazo teamed up with Toronto musician/ producer Sam Weller forming "The Radikals" as his backing band and has won the year 2000 Juno Award for Best Reggae Recording for the album "Heart and Soul". We will surely be hearing alot more about this Charismatic artist , who , against all odds left the small island of Dominica and made a name for himself in the world. Lazo has recently completed a degree in Political Science, this shaker and mover plans to make a difference in the world...
